A native New Yorker, having grown up on Long Island, Dr. Gottlieb attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, before graduating from Pacific University in Oregon in 1978, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree and was also a member of the honor fraternity. He proudly achieved all of this before turning 24.
Dr. Gottlieb focuses on getting things done right the first time, a guiding principle in a career that spans over 40 years. He strives to solve his patient’s vision issues swiftly and efficiently using the best technology available.
Dr. Gottlieb is a considerate and active member of the local community. He’s a member of the Lakewood Rotary Club; the Lakewood Lions Club, offering eye care for needy Lakewood residents; and the Flying Samaritans, with whom he provides free eye care in the Baja peninsula in Mexico.
In his free time, Dr. Gottlieb loves to be out on the water and is an avid boater, fisherman, and scuba diver. He has twice been on the winning crew in the Newport to Ensenada International Yacht Race. He has sailed to Hawaii, the Indian Ocean, and the Barrier Reef, and in 2015 he crossed the Atlantic. When he’s not on the water, you might also find him with the Philharmonic Society of Orange County.
