Why would I need glasses or contacts?

Glasses and contacts are vision correction treatments that help you see better at close distances, far distances, or both. You might need them to correct:

  • Nearsightedness
  • Farsightedness
  • Astigmatism
  • More than one vision problem

Numerous contact lenses and glasses are available at Dr. Gottlieb Optometry. Your eye doctor works with you to determine which type of vision correction lens best matches your unique needs.

What are the different types of lenses?

There are numerous contact lenses and glasses available at Dr. Gottlieb Optometry. Examples include:

Hard contacts

Hard contact lenses, including rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses, are made of plastic and other materials. The lenses firmly hold their shape but let oxygen reach your eyes. If you have astigmatism, keratoconus, or allergies, hard contacts might be a good fit for you.

Gas-permeable scleral contacts have a larger diameter and rest on the whites of your eyes. These lenses are useful for treating vision problems caused by keratoconus, a corneal irregularity.

Rigid CRT® lenses, or corneal refractive therapy lenses, correct nearsightedness or astigmatism while you sleep without the need for daytime glasses or contacts.

Soft contacts

Soft contact lenses are soft and flexible. Some are disposable, allowing you to wear a new pair of contacts every day. Others must be replaced weekly, monthly, or every few months. You can wear daily-use soft contacts during the day and take them out at night, or choose extended-wear contacts that stay in your eyes while you sleep.

Glasses

Glasses available at Dr. Gottlieb Optometry include lenses that help you see better at near or far distances, reading glasses, glasses with UV protection, and blue light glasses to reduce digital eye strain.

The Dr. Gottlieb Optometry team offers over 1,000 frames on display, including top brands like Nike, Calvin Klein, Prada, Gucci, Ray-Ban, and numerous others.

What should I expect during my eye exam?

During an eye exam at Dr. Gottlieb Optometry, your optometrist reviews your medical history and asks you about vision problems. They complete a comprehensive eye exam with special tests that detect eye diseases, and vision tests to determine your vision prescription.

Don’t live with vision problems that negatively affect your quality of life. Schedule an appointment with Dr. Gottlieb Optometry over the phone or online today.
